Parish Clerk

Caroline Burton has been part of the Parish Council in some form or another since 2003 and more recently as the Parish Clerk – her second stint in this role (previously 2003-2007). With more than 20 years of Parish Council involvement, Caroline has decided it’s time to retire and enjoy some well-earned leisure time.  Caroline’s knowledge about our local community as well as her contacts at WNC and other organisations is invaluable to our community and with her professionalism and determination she has been a transformative figure for the Parish Council, and by extension the Village, and her shoes will be tough to fill! Thank you, Caroline, for your support, guidance and most importantly your dedication the Parish Council. We wish you all the very best in your retirement.

About the Role

East Farndon Parish Council is looking to fill the vacancy of Clerk. This is a paid role with an attractive pay rate including expenses where appropriate.

The role of Clerk boasts flexible working of 20 hours per month, which includes in-person evening meetings generally held every other month at East Farndon Village Hall. The Parish Clerk is a varied and rewarding role and includes the following duties:

  • Responding to emails and correspondence. 
  • Placing orders for services agreed by the Parish Council and ensuring effective completion.
  • Liaising with the many organisations that operate for the good of the Parish.
  • Writing and publishing Parish Council meeting agendas in consultation with the Chair.
  • Attendance at the Parish Council meetings and acting as an advisor.
  • Minute taking and publication of minutes.
  • Managing the day-to-day spending of the Parish Council including keeping detailed records of finances.
  • Other reasonable duties assigned by the Council

About you

Candidates must be self-motivated with good organisational, communication and numeracy skills. Be comfortable working independently and have competent IT skills including knowledge of Word and Excel or similar. Previous experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided both internally and through third party bodies, resulting in nationally recognised accreditations.
